How to Do Your Own Publicity

Who says that you need to hire a publicist, if you know how to write, have time, creativity and contacts, then you are well on your way to being able to create your own ‘do-it-yourself publicity plan,’ but if none of those are your attributes, our at least not all, then you may want to consider hiring a firm to represent you, though this article is geared towards those who likely fit the above-mentioned criteria .  nether, please find some of the things that you will need to execute your publicity plan.

  1.  You should make sure that you have something newsworthy to publicize, then begin formulating your press release using as many facts as possible – it should be no more than one page, and answer the who, what, where, when and whys that the reporter would likely need to know.  You should search online to see unlike examples of press releases, while keeping in mind that reporters have very hectic schedules, so you have to make sure that you intrigue them from the door, and get straight to the point.  Then you will want to distribute your releases to press release distribution services, if you do not have a media database.
  2.  You should have an EPK (electronic press kit) or media kit that encompasses all of the essentials about you or your business organisation – mission statement (biography if artist), photos, videos, past press clippings, testimonials and more – you want to make sure that everything is professionally presented to the person that you’re looking to publicize you.  The rule of thumb is that they should never have to ask for you to send material; it should all be readily available for their studying.
  3. Social networking and social media accounts.  Yes, so we all know that as a person, you may be private, but if you are a business person or an artist, then you simply cannot afford to be private – you have to be out there letting the world know that you exist, and how better to do this than to announce it rapidly and virally via the social networking and social media mechanisms. Word travels fast on the Internet and it is also an inexpensive way to get the word out.
  4. Good ol’ fashion guerilla marketing.  Pounding the pavement to make things happen, by spreading the word via postcards, literature, posters, bulletins or buttons – you should be out at all of the events that would be related to your niche market.

So, that is it for now, but if you go with these numbered points outlined, you will be well on your way to creating your very own do-it-yourself publicity campaign.

Entrepreneurs – How To Project Your Corporate Identity

Youve got your business set up and you are working hard on getting your customers and giving them a good service, but you are still a small company. How do you project a great corporate image so that you can run with the big dogs?

In service based companies and those that are working with large corporations it is important that you project a good image. It is difficult to compete with other larger and more experienced companies unless you are perceived as their equals so you need to work upon the image that you and your company project. Here are a few ideas:

* Brand: Ensure that you have a consistent, professional expensive looking, branding. Particularly spend some money on your brochures and business cards. Print on demand printers (POD) make your company look established and prosperous. Brochures printed off on your inkjet merely say you are a one person company with a limited turnover.
* Office: Rent an office for meetings or for to give a good impression when needed. This can be done quite easily. You can also just rent a virtual mailing address and phone answering machine if required.
* Contact Details: Make sure that you have an office sounding address and a good telephone number a mobile/cell phone number just states one person business. In the age of VOIP phones you can now get a phone number very easily especially a number for several different countries. If your partner or friend can answer the phone for you this makes a good impression.
* Vehicles: Make sure your vehicles are always clean and in a good condition and not too old. Sign write them if possible.
* Web Site: Ensure that your web site projects the professional image that it should. Dont have any amateur features such as visible web counters or poor graphics. Make it easy to navigate, full of useful information and include your phone number and contact details.

Lastly yourself: Ensure that you are dressed professionally at all times and project a professional manner. Lastly dont call yourself the SEO or President etc. In large companies these people very rarely meet the customers. Try Business Development Manager or something similar it describes your role, gives you an air of seniority and disguises the fact that you may be the only employee.

Of course you should not do anything that may be illegal never lie about your company employees or the size of your company. It is easy enough to project a good image using the above features. Good luck.

Entrepreneurs Critical Mistakes That Will Damage Your Business

Youve decided to start a new business, or you already have a business and you are making it through the recession. So what are the mistakes that are likely to severely damage your business?

Cash flow: With the lack of loans and bank overdrafts it is important to chase your debtors and pay only when you have to. Renegotiate your payment terms, your lease payments and your overdraft facilities and only spend on what will bring in revenue.

Not Marketing Enough: Now is not the time to give up on your marketing, but now is the time to make every piece of marketing work for you. Split test and check the responsiveness of each piece and each advert. Look after your list and market to them.

Not Saying No Enough: As money becomes tight, you need to learn to say no to advertising that does not work. No to staff who are spending too much. No to any expenses that are not necessary. You get the idea.

Chasing Non Profitable Work: When the going gets tough, it is tempting to chase any work that comes along. You still have to be choosy. Undertaking work that is not profitable is business suicide. Similarly working at projects that are of a low grade or worse, slightly illegal, will send messages to your customers that you are not a quality company. Woolworths in the UK did just this it used to be renowned for low cost, quality items and was the place to find everything you needed. Gradually over the years its ranges lessened and its quality went down. This great bastion of British culture, with branches in most major towns, went bankrupt this year!

Keeping Too Many Products: Go through your products and work out which ones sell and which dont. Clear out in a sale, those heavy stocks and stop producing those that dont sell so well. Stocks are dead money and cost to store, so clear out as much as possible.

Good luck.

Ice Cube Approves The Record By T.I.

T.I. says when his new mixtape F— a Mixtape that already dropped, he won’t be going in on his peers’ beats; he has way too much material for that. T.I. does use a beat from a West Coast legend . The tape will feature a remake of Ice Cube’s classic 1990 album cut “Once Upon a Time in the Projects.”

“It’s dope,” Cube said about Tip’s musical tip of the hat to him. “It makes you realize you’ve made a impact on some of the younger MCs that come behind you. It’s cool to a point ’cause these are the songs I make my bread and butter off. I might have a little issue if it’s some of my bigger hits,” Cube added. “I might have an issue with that. But ‘Once Upon a Time in the Projects,’ that’s tight.”

T.I. isn’t the first artist to remake one of Ice Cube’s records. On his Doc’s Da Name 2000 LP, Redman took portions of the record for “Jersey Yo!”

“Redman’s my man,” Cube smiled. “We go back a long way — all the way back to when he was just hanging out with EPMD. Red, he’s got a lot more leeway. But T.I.’s dope. I’m a fan of his records, so that’s tight.”

“The Mixtape will be a Gangsta grillz classic,” said T.I. . The cover of the tape was released online on Wednesday and features a couple of old-school cassettes scattered beneath some newspapers with visible headlines.

“We been talking about it for a minute — a long time,” Drama told MTV News in April. “It’s been quite a while since Tip has done a Gangsta Grillz. I guess The Leak was the last one. When Tip first got home, I had the conversation with him. ‘You home, Gangsta Grillz as a brand is still as hot as it ever was, almost helping breathe back life into the mixtape game. I think it will be right to come back full circle to where you are, to where the brand is.’ That’s how the conversation started.”

Ice Cube’s new album will be out this July .

Is a franking machine cheaper than stamps?

  •  Would a franking machine benefit my company  ?

Franking is the quick and easy way to manage your mail that can save you time and money while projecting a more professional image of your company. It’s cost efficient and easy to use, with a flexible range of products and services – and because you can pay for credit as and when you need it, you’re in complete control of your postage .
There  are no minimum or maximum volumes that you mut adhere to, and postage discounts are available on just a single item of mail. Although you do need to take in to consideration the cost of the machine and franking machine ink.  postage discounts for franked mail are applied per item so you qualify for discounts on your post regardless of how many items you send.

Can I use a franking machine to frank any type of mail?

  • Franking machines can be used to post many different sorts of mail including the following:

    • First Class
    • Second Class
    • Recorded Delivery
    • Special Delivery
    • Cleanmail
    • Mailsort
    • ParcelForce Worldwide Services
    • International / Airmail
  • Where do I get a franking machine and how do I choose one?

Franking machines are available from many different companies, such as Pitney Bowes, Neopost & Francotyp Postalia. Pitney Bowes seem to be the most popular in the UK. Genuine Pitney Bowes ink cartridges start at about £35 plus vat and delivery, but compatible cartridges start from as little as £14.99.

Types of franking machines vary from more simple, low-volume machines to larger automated machines, which will recognise the size, weight and thickness of mail. Which machine is suitable for your company will depend on the type and volume of mail you are posting.

  • How much does franking cost?

There is a charge to rent the machine from the supplier and buy the franking machine ink cartridges  . There may also be a charge to top up your franking machine.

Do not let these costs put you off. Franked mail is cheaper than normal stamped mail and you will save 5p on a first class letter. If you are sending larger letters or small packets, great savings are available. Check the Royal Mail website for exact savings .

  •  What do I do with my mail once it has been franked  ?

Franked mail can be taken your local Post Office or Mail Centre or it can be posted in a franked mailbox. Franked mail must not be posted in a regular post box.

If you are a  company  you can also look in to the Royal Mail collection service, where for an annual fee, the Postman will collect your mail from your premises.

  • Are there any other benefits to using a franking machine?

We have already mentioned the  discounts on all your postage costs, franking your mail is  a simple  way to project a more professional image of your company. By customising your franking label , you can include your company name and logo, as well as your return address, on every item of post you send. You could also use your franking impression to carry a specific advertising message, draw attention to an offer or promotion or just to build awareness of your brand and the services you offer meaning every item of mail you send becomes an advertising opportunity .

The highly visible franking impression creates a consistent identity across every mailing, regardless of the size, colour or shape of your envelope stocks.

  • Entrepreneurs – Do You Disagree With Your Boss And Want

Entrepreneurs – Do You Disagree With Your Boss And Want To Start Out On Your Own?

Do you have a problem with your existing boss and think that they will not listen? Have you made numerous, time tested, industry accepted suggestions, but cannot seem to get this person to make changes that would benefit the company? So do you want to distance yourself from this company and do it yourself? Set your own company up and do things your way? Heres a few suggestions for you.

    First things First
As the Biz Guru, I provide information on business matters so unfortunately cannot provide legal advice sorry but I will help you from a business perspective. I suggest very strongly that you contact a legal advisor before your set up your new company just so that you dont get sued!

Secondly as the owner of the business, your boss is quite entitled to run their business as they seem fit, just as you are entitled to work for whom you wish to. That said, I can quite understand that it must be very frustrating to you and that, with all the ideas you have, that it would be a good idea for you to start your own business.

You have four things that you need to address:
    * Setting up a competing business. You should look very closely at your contract of employment, many restrict you in setting up a competing business within a certain time period or geographical area. This is why the term gardening leave was invented. It means that you may have to spend some time gardening as opposed to working, whilst you adhere to your contract. You MUST take legal advice on this matter. It is hard enough to start a new business
    * Taking existing clients with you. Again this may be against your contract. There are not many companies that will allow you to approach their clients with a view to taking them, whilst they are paying you to do so! Similarly many of the clients may be loyal to your employer and news of your exploits may get back to them, leaving you very quickly without employment. Lastly is poaching clients the kind of message you want to give to future clients?
    * Taking other staff with you. Again this may be against your contract and is actually illegal in some countries. Never build your businesses on a promise that other staff will join you. A start up business cannot offer the same security and salary that they currently have this matters to many people.
    * Business ethics. You dont state what business or country you are in, but your potential customers will want to view your new business as being honest and reliable so keep your ethics as white as white.

My suggestions to you are that you stop offering advice instead spend the time designing your own business, learning from the mistakes that your current boss is making. Learn as much as you can about the business, where you can make improvements and what you can do that your potential customers will really want.

Then and only then, make your move, leave your job and set up your new business as you are legally able to do. Your current work friends will follow you if they feel that you are onto a good thing.

The best result you can have is to make a success where your former boss has failed.

New Headphones created By Monster For Diddy

I’m not really into all that technical stuff,  so when I got my first pair of Diddybeats Headphones by Monster , I really didn’t know what to make of it or what to listen for. But not even 30 seconds into Notorious B.I.G.’s “Hypnotize” (the first song I played using the Diddybeats ),I had to hand it to Diddy , Diddy’s new headphones was a work of art.

Following in the foots steps of the Beats By Dr. Dre headphones, Monster has sponsored P.Diddy for his own line of headphones. But unlike Beats by Dr. Dre, Diddybeats pride themselves on being not only the best sounding, but also the best looking headphones on the market. And, they’re pretty much both.

I too was skeptical about Diddy’s new headphones ,I was reminded of his affinity for high-quality everything (Sean Jean anyone?) when I experienced DiddyBeats for myself. All of a sudden, everything I was listening to on my portable music player sounded brand new. There really is something missing in a lot of the headphones we see on store shelves, but on DiddyBeats, everything from my Black Keys album, Brothers, to Ready To Die sounded like I was listening to them while sitting in a studio. And of course, with the distinctive “db” insignia on the outerpart of the earphones, Diddybeats have a streamlined look so if we ever wanted to listen to our own music instead of that boring wedding band at a reception, the headphones would blend in well with our tuxedo.

Check out Didybeats online, if you like what you see purchase a pair. I willing to bet, that you will be satisfied

Entrepreneurs Do You Want To Get Your Classified Ads

Entrepreneurs Do You Want To Get Your Classified Ads Read?

We all know how important advertising is to your business if people dont know what you have to sell they wont buy from you. Getting customers to even think about spending is hard as everyone seems to be watching their spending. Classified ads are great because they are relatively inexpensive and are quick to set up and equally as quick to change if they appear not to be working. So how can you make your small advertising budget work for you and get your classified ads read and most importantly acted upon?

Well first of all remember the magic formula: AIDA

    * Attract the attention of your prospective customer.
    * Interest them in your product
    * Produce Desire for your product
    * Request Action from them.

This is the basic rule of all advertising copy and is the first thing taught to copy writers and is one key thing for an entrepreneur to remember. If you ad is not seen it cannot be acted upon, if it is not acted upon you get no sales and if you get no sales.. So how do you put this into action?

First of all collect together 10 classified ads that have caught your attention and then 10 that you are sure that you will never buy from. Sit down somewhere quiet and lay them out in front of you. Examine each of them with the above formula in mind.
    * Has the writer attracted your attention?
    * What about the ads has sparked and kept your interest?
    * Are you motivated enough want to know more about the product being advertised?
    * What action must you take in order to learn more?
    * Are all of these points covered in the ad?

When looking at the bad ones:
    * What turned you off about them?
    * Why did you overlook them in the first place?
    * What impression did they give about their products or company?
    * Did they have contact details or a call to action on them?

Now you should have a good idea of what constitutes a good ad. Take one of your products or services and see if you can write them in the same way as the good ones and then check against the bad ones to make sure that you have not made the same bad mistake. Obviously you want your ad to stand out so dont copy the ones you have seen already! Keep practicing until you are sure you are ready to publish.

A good classified ad reads like an old fashioned telegram few words but what there are there are working for you! Good luck.

    Dinosaurs, Evolution And God

Dinosaurs are among the most fascinating creatures ever, but some apocalyptic creationists who trust in a 6000 year-old earth also hold that the fossil record is not one of life’s evolution but an antediluvian struggle between the forces of light and darkness!

Yes, religious fundamentalists can harbor some very extraordinary beliefs but they can make for great summer smash hit movies. With the proper special effects, such a tale may reap massive profits on the silver screen: Imagine “Paradise Lost” with rebellious fallen angels in the form of dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures!

Such a view was once espoused by the former Worldwide Church of God of the late Herbert W. Armstrong, a previous advertising man turned end-times evangelist. Now recognized as a cult, among the organization’s many strange convictions were those holding the U. S. and Great Britain, together with some northwestern western european countries like those comprising Scandinavia, to be the latter-day descendants of the legendary Ten Lost Tribes of Israel. Members of this church also believed in keeping saturday as the Sabbath, in common with 7th Day Adventists, and also believed in keeping the so-called Mosaic dietary laws.

According to the apocalyptic doctrine once promoted by this organization thru its free magazine “The Plain Truth” and its diverse radio and TV programs, Anglo-Saxon-Nordic races were the true inheritors of the Abrahamic promise of worldly might and power and would confront an european Union bent on their elimination. Armageddon was to be between the armies of Christ on earth in Jerusalem against an array fielded by China, Russia, and the european Union on Mount Megiddo in Israel.

This curious church was once extremely popular but has since then its founder’s death broke into competing factions also, they note, foretold by Biblical prophecy. Whatever the case, it is certainly a weird tale worth showing.
